What you'll do
Two hours of patching. We start from an empty canvas and build something that makes sound and responds to you.

Patch your first objects and get sound out of Max.

Build a small synth or effect from the ground up.
- 3
Add a control - a knob, a keyboard, your mouse - and play it.
- 4
Make it move on its own: a touch of randomness or generative behaviour.
What you leave with
A working Max patch that's yours to keep and extend.
The patching mindset - objects, signals and messages - that unlocks the rest.

Who teaches it
Tim - trained as a composer of electronic music at the Utrecht conservatory, built generative audio for games, played live sets at underground raves, and is a lifelong modular-synth obsessive. He also builds software for a living, so he's good at getting people from zero to something that actually works.

Do I need to code?+
No. Max/MSP is visual - you connect objects with virtual cables. If you can follow a recipe, you can patch.
Do I need experience?+
A little comfort making music helps you get more out of it, but you don't need to know Max. We start from scratch.
What do I bring?+
Your laptop. Max runs a free trial that's plenty for the workshop - install it beforehand, or ask for help.
Dutch or English?+
Either - small group, whatever suits everyone.
