About me
Hi, I'm Tim. I build software for a living and I make electronic music for the love of it, and Bezige Bijnen is where those two worlds meet.
My story
By day I'm a full stack developer with more than ten years of experience. Right now I work as a freelance developer at ASML, and before that I built software for companies like Philips Healthcare, Accenture and Vinci Energies, and for clients such as Schiphol and Damen Shipyards. I also spent two years teaching software development at Fontys, which is where I found out how much I enjoy getting people from zero to something that actually works.
I didn't start in software though. I trained as a composer of electronic music and graduated from the conservatory in Utrecht. Along the way I built audio installations and made generative audio for video games, played live sets of my own music at underground raves, and once shared a stage at Dancevalley with my brother. Modular synthesizers are still a bit of an obsession.
Off the clock I'm a father of four. I once dreamed up, built and eventually sold a pizza restaurant here in Eindhoven, I coach my son's football team, and I snowboard whenever I get the chance.
How the workshops work
That mix is exactly what these workshops are about. Software, hardware and music are really the same craft: you describe what you want, build it, and keep refining until it works. I keep the groups small and practical, so you spend the evening making something real and take it home working, instead of sitting through a lecture.
Who they're for
The workshops are for anyone curious enough to want to build something of their own: complete beginners, hobbyists, business owners who need a tool but not a developer's bill, and younger makers taking their first steps. No experience needed. Just bring your curiosity.
