Make your first track in Ableton Live
A hands-on 2-hour workshop for absolute beginners. Open Ableton, build a beat, and leave with a short track of your own - no experience needed.
Small group (max 4) · Beginners welcome · Dutch & English
Never made music before
You've never opened a music app, but you're curious how electronic tracks are actually made. A perfect starting point.
You mess about but never finish
You've tinkered in GarageBand or a free DAW and want to learn Ableton properly - and actually finish something.
What you'll do
Two hours, hands-on from the start. We build a short track together, step by step.
- 1
Find your way around Ableton Live - the bits you actually need, none of the overwhelm.
- 2
Build a beat from scratch and get it grooving.
- 3
Add a bassline and a simple melody with Ableton's built-in instruments.
- 4
Arrange your loop into a short track and shape it with a few effects.
- 5
Export it and take it home.
What you leave with
A short track you made yourself.
The core Ableton workflow - enough to keep going on your own.
A clear next step for where to take it.

Who teaches it

Tim - trained as a composer of electronic music at the Utrecht conservatory, built generative audio for games, played live sets at underground raves, and is a lifelong modular-synth obsessive. He also builds software for a living, so he's good at getting people from zero to something that actually works.

Do I need any experience?+
No. This workshop is built for complete beginners - if you've never made music, you're in the right place.
What do I need to bring?+
Your laptop, and headphones if you have them. Ableton Live's free 30-day trial is all you need - install it before you come, or ask and we'll help.
Is it in Dutch or English?+
Either. The group is small (max 4), so we run it in whatever language suits everyone.
Why such a small group?+
Max four people means real hands-on time and actual help, not a lecture.
